GMM Pfaudler′s Engineered Systems department has extensive experience in the designing of complete Engineered Systems. We can also provide auxiliary equipment for vacuum, heating, pumping and instrumentation. Complete Systems can be pre-assembled with equipment, piping, instrumentation and wiring. A pre-assembled system assures proper fitment and alignment of all components, saving time and money during installation.
Skid mounted systems can also be designed allowing for immediate commissioning at the site with just connection of the utilities. |

| Wiped Film Evaporators |
GMM Pfaudler′s Wiped Film Evaporators (WFE) are operating in plants across various industry segments including Food Processing, Pharmaceutical, Fine Chemicals, Polymers & Resins, Fats & oils and Petrochemicals. Our WFE’s can be offered in most materials of construction depending on the application. Our sizes range from 0.1 Sq. Meters to 21.5 Sq. Meters of evaporating surface area.
Though this style of evaporator can be used in almost any application, the WFE excels in distillation steps where products are heat sensitive, viscous, tend to foul heated surfaces, or have high temperature boiling points.
GMM Pfaudler′s WFE′s are engineered and built as per ASME code Section VIII Div. 1. European design codes like AD Merkblatter, Stoomwezen under the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) are available on request. In addition we are also certified by SELO for supplies to the People’s Republic of China.
Benefits of a WFE:
- Short residence time (liquid is on the hot surface for seconds)
- Operate Under High Vacuum (reduced operating temperature)
- Excellent Heat Transfer (process film is continuously agitated)
- Handle Viscous Fluids (wipers pump liquid down & provide thin film)
- Handle Dirty/Fouling Fluids (wipers continuously agitate film)
- >90% Distillate in Single Pass (without recirculating)
- No Bottom Steady Bearing (wipers effective at low speed)
GMM Pfaudler offers skid mounted Wiped Film Evaporators to our customers to conduct trials at their site. |

| Temperature Control Units |
GMM Pfaudler′s Temperature Control Units (TCU) are custom designed Thermal Fluid Heating/Cooling Systems for heating and cooling applications for the pharmaceutical, chemical, biotech, food, flavor & fragrance and nutraceutical industries. We provide systems to service alloy or glass lined reactors.
TCU′s are designed to utilize a single heat transfer fluid such as glycol, synthetic organic, synthetic silicone or even water.
Benefits of a TCU:
- Continuous Temperature Control (No Loss of Control for Utility Changeovers)
- Batch-to-Batch Repeatability, Higher Batch Quality and Yields
- Thermal Shock Protection for Glass Lined Reactors
- No Cross Contamination of Building Utility Fluids
- Easy to Operate
- Reduced Jacket Corrosion/Fouling
Our TCU′s are designed to operate as low as -100°C or as high as 370°C.
We design our systems to operate using your central plant utilities (e.g. steam, cooling water etc.) or we provide the utilities with the system (electric heat, chiller etc.).
GMM Pfaudler designs all its TCU′s to provide ±1°C temperature control. We use our own proprietary computer program to accurately predict heat transfer in reactors and design the TCU for optimal performance. We also help you choose the most appropriate heat transfer fluid. Our controllers include “Delta T” controls to prevent thermal shock damage to glass-lining.
If you have a GMM Pfaudler glass lined reactor coupled with a GMM Pfaudler Temperature Control Unit, we will guarantee the thermal performance. |
