Distillation is a thermal separation process used to obtain evaporable liquids, or separate solvents from substances that are difficult to evaporate, to then collect them by condensation. Compared to other separation processes, distillation has the advantage that usually no supplementary substances, such as adsorbents or solvents, need to be added.

In distillation, the initial mixture is first brought to a boiling point. The resulting vapor, which is composed of the various volatile components of the solution to be separated, is liquified again in a condenser through cooling. In laboratory scale, an intensive cooler is often used. The liquid condensate is then collected.

Pfaudler offers a wide range of standardized distillation equipment and distillation systems. Through its know-how and flexible manufacturing options, Pfaudler can satisfy various customers’ needs.
