Mixion - Mixing Technology

In the chemical process industries, several reactions involve the use of pure gas, such as Hydrogen, to accomplish desired chemical reactions. Thus, effective gas-liquid contact is of prime importance to achieve optimum results. Often in such processes, the conversion of gas is poor, and a substantial amount of gas leaves the reaction bulk unreacted. The treatment of unreacted gas for reuse or for disposal is expensive in the capital and operating costs and even objectionable due to its toxic nature. In such cases, where it becomes desirable to recycle the unreacted gas back from the reactor vapor-space, dedicated mixers and agitators for hydrogenation are the most favorable solution.

Mixers and Agitators for Hydrogenation

The hydrogenation agitator offered by Mixion helps the induced gas to get well dispersed into the reaction bulk enhancing the gas-liquid mass transfer rates. Mixion hydrogenators are fitted with a patented* high-efficiency gas induction impeller (HEGI) which helps the induced gas to get well dispersed into the reaction bulk, enhancing the gas-liquid mass transfer rates.

Watch how HEGI offers three times higher hold-up

The HEGI impeller uses the acceleration of the liquid phase over the blades to locally reduce the pressure and thereby induces a flow of gas through the hollow shaft from headspace; the gas flow rate and the impeller speed become dependent in such gas induction impeller systems. The critical speed at which the onset of the gas induction occurs may be considered as the first step in design. The induced gas is well dispersed into the reaction bulk thereby improving the gas-liquid mass transfer rates.

We offer not only the reactor vessel and HEGI impeller but also complete Hydrogenation Automation which includes:

  • Reactor Pressure Leakage Test
  • Material Charging to the reactor, Catalyst addition/charging
